UTSA picks up 8th commitment from Juco QB

Tucker Carter, a quarterback from Trinity Valley C.C., made his commitment to play football at UTSA earlier this evening.

The 6’3″, 210 lb QB was named SWJCFC Offensive Player of the Year after putting up some great numbers this year, including a game against Navarro in which he accounted for 7 touchdowns. He was also named an Honorable Mention NJCAA All-American, making him one of the top 5 Juco QBs in the nation.

He visited campus this past weekend and apparently came away very impressed. This makes him the fourth commitment in the past week for the UTSA football program, increasing the total commit count to eight.

Carter should provide some nice competition at the quarterback spot for 2012, which many had assumed was Soza’s job to lose. Even if he doesn’t take the starting job, he should be able to push Soza, Polite and Conque to get better, and he’ll be a solid backup in case Soza (or whoever is starting) gets hurt.
