Whether you’ve been visiting my site for the past year, or you just happened to stumble upon it for the first time, I’d like to welcome you to the top site for UTSA Roadrunner football news.
This site began in October 2009 as utsafootball.webs.com and tracked all of our commitments from the 2010 class, including photos, stats, articles and various links for each commit. Over time it expanded to include a page with the future schedules for UTSA football and an article database with the goal of archiving all of the most important articles dating back to 2005 when UTSA football was just a dream.
Since I first launched the site, we’ve seen Dan McCarney take over as the leading beat reporter for UTSA sports, especially football, and launching his blog through the E-N site. UTSATailgaters completely overhauled their site, and a new fan forum Rowdyville.net was launched and quickly became the go-to site for fans to discuss Roadrunner athletics. Also, the Roadrunner football team’s first recruiting class hit campus and many of us got to see them in action at their practices and scrimmages, including the final scrimmage of the year at the future home of our Roadrunners, the Alamodome. Just as we thought UTSA football faced a huge setback with the Southland Conference’s ruling that we couldn’t stay if we didn’t play football in the conference, the WAC was raided by the MWC and commissioner Karl Benson was forced to expand and chose to add UTSA, along with rival Texas State, to play football in the WAC.
With all that’s happened since I took on this endeavor, it was getting difficult to keep track of all the recruiting news, conference shakeups and other news about the UTSA football program, so I decided that I needed a better, more efficient way of bringing the latest news to Roadrunner fans. So that’s why I started this blog. I will post updates on everything pertaining to the UTSA football program as soon as I find out about them, often referencing some of the sites mentioned above, as well as other outside sources, with the goal of being a one-stop resource for any Roadrunner football fans who don’t have the time to search through everything on the internet to find the latest news. In addition, I will maintain the Future Schedules and Articles Database pages from the old site, but I’ll be working out a better system for tracking recruits and commits.
