Here is a copy of an e-mail sent out to Roadrunner Athletic Fund donors:
We at UTSA Athletics just wanted to take the time to thank everyone that attended our first ever Spring Football Game on April 9 at the Alamodome. We couldn’t have been happier with the turnout. There are many spring games at universities across the country that do not have the turnout that we experienced. For that, we thank you.
We thank all of you that have purchased season tickets for the inaugural season and for those who haven’t, there is still time. Please invite everyone to take part in this historic event for Texas. We want to see the Alamodome packed and rocking this September 3. It is hard to believe that we are only four months from kickoff.
Basketball excitement is already growing around campus for next season. Coach Thompson’s team is recruiting heavily across the country and is confident they will be in a position for a second consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament. Devin Gibson’s shoes will be tough to fill, but we are sure to have someone step up and lead the team to another championship. Make plans to be a season ticket holder next fall.
One thing to note is that we have currently tied the Southland Conference record with four conference championships this year and Outdoor Track, Baseball, Softball, and Men’s and Women’s Golf are still competing. One more conference championship this year would break the record. Please show your support to these athletes by attending their competitions. It really does make a difference. Our student-athletes greatly appreciate all of the support that you give, personally and financially.
The 3rd Annual Larry Coker Golf Tournament will be held May 24 at Briggs Ranch. This is a change of venue for this tournament as it has been at Sonterra in the past. We look forward to having a full field again this year. Thank you to those that have played in the past and supported the groundwork for UTSA Football. Contact Shelly Horn-Rogers at (210) 458-6333 or shelly.rogers@utsa.edu for details about the tournament.
