Updated 2011 UTSA Depth Chart

Earlier this week I posted my projected two-deep roster. However, after taking a look at the camp roster and doing a little bit more analysis, I made quite a few changes, so here is UTSA’s 2011 Depth Chart v2.0.

Once again, feel free to share your opinions in the comment section below, or join the discussion on Rowdyville.net.

For this updated depth chart, I will be giving each player a grade from A to C- so you can take a closer look at which positions I think are up for grabs and which players I’m fairly certain will be starting on Sept. 3. Also, I decided to go further than two-deep at most positions since we have quite a few players that will be competing for playing time.

  1. Darrell—I appreciate the effort you put in to the depth chart. I think you have done a nice job. Will be interesting to see how things shake out for the first game.

Question–my recollection is that walk-on receiver Cody Seaber had a really good spring and an outstanding spring game–I think he had the most receptions and it was my understanding that he was competing for a starting position. I don’t see him on your 3 deep at receiver or slot and was just wondering what happened. Is he still with the team?

  2. You’re right about him being the leading receiver in the spring game. From what I can tell, it looks like he was mostly out there with second and third string QBs, and that was after injuries/suspensions to Holmes, Jones, Armstrong, and Garza.
I hadn’t heard anything about him competing for a starting spot, but it’s certainly possible. Jones and Wanamaker are the only guys that all of us seem to agree on, and I’ve heard good things about Holmes and Mack, but it really seems like the most open competition in camp.
Thanks for the heads up on him though, and I’ll give you some props if he plays well in training camp and earns a spot.

  3. WHy would you guys guess on something like this? It makes you look as though you don’t know what the f— you’re talking about. And then you rank the kids!! What a novice move! I’ll wait and get my FACTS from a reliable source!!!

    1. If you wanted to wait three weeks for the official depth chart, then more power to you, but a lot of fans wanted insight on projected starters earlier in the preseason. The ratings were part of a larger project to put the UTSA football team in the NCAA ’12 video game.

If you prefer another blog over mine, then go on and enjoy their site. I certainly will not miss you. Have a nice day. =)
