Three surprises plus Marcus Wright

A few hours before the official signing day announcement was made by UTSA, LaGrange HS (Lake Charles, LA) defensive back Ja’Len James tweeted that he had just signed with the Roadrunners. The 5’10”, 175-pound multi-positional athlete earned all-district honors at three different positions following his final season.

At around 2:00 pm, UTSA posted the official press release on goUTSA.com, which revealed two new faces (along with James) and one not-so-new face who hadn’t yet been confirmed.

First up is Bishop Verot HS (Fort Myers, FL) offensive lineman Cody Cole. The 6’4″, 275-pound lineman has played both guard and tackle in high school, and was named to the All-Area Second Team as a senior. The last mystery commitment came from 5’9″, 180-pound running back Brian Vaughn from All Saints HS in Fort Worth. Highlights for both Cole and Vaughn can be seen at the end of the post.

Additionally, UTSA confirmed that former Reagan standout running back Marcus Wright would be transferring from Georgia Tech to play out his final season as a Roadrunner.
