After clinching a Southland Conference Tournament berth on Wednesday, the Roadrunners are left fighting for positioning heading into the conference tournament in Katy on March 7.
The Roadrunners currently sit in 5th place in the conference, and there is approximately an 83% chance that’s where they will enter the tournament. However, there are seven games remaining in the season that can have an effect on the final position of UTSA.
Wednesday (all 7 p.m.):
UTSA @ Central Arkansas
Stephen F. Austin @ Sam Houston State
Lamar @ Texas State
Nicholls State @ Northwestern State
McNeese State @ Lamar (3:30 p.m.)
UT-Arlington @ UTSA (6 p.m.)
Northwestern State @ Stephen F. Austin (6 p.m.)
(UTSA would like to see teams in bold win)
UTSA could statistically enter the tournament as high as the third seed, or as low as the sixth seed.
In order to claim the third seed, UTSA must win both of its remaining games, while Lamar and Stephen F. Austin must both lose all of their remaining games. UTSA would be tied for third place with SFA, and would win the tiebreaker based on record versus the highest-ranked team (UT-Arlington).
* 1.56% possibility
If UTSA wins out, but only one of either Lamar or SFA loses out, then UTSA will claim the 4th seed.
* 9.38% possibility
The only way that UTSA would fall to the sixth seed is with two losses, as well as two wins by Northwestern State.
* 6.25% possibility
In all other scenarios, UTSA would remain in the 5th seed.
* 82.81% possibility
