UTSA offers two more for 2013

The first offer we learned of yesterday was East Central athlete Chris Armstrong, who tweeted last night that he had been offered by the UTSA staff.

In addition to UTSA, Armstrong also holds offers from Texas Tech and Tennessee, while TCU has shown interest but has yet to extend an offer. The 5’10”, 155-pound athlete has played primarily at running back and cornerback for the Hornets, and would likely fill one of those positions at UTSA.

He becomes the second East Central prospect to receive an offer from UTSA after teammate Austin Jupe was offered back in January. Two other East Central recruits (QB Christian Jones, DB Matthew Coleman) were at UTSA’s recent Junior Day, while another (OL Andrew Tercek) was invited, but chose to visit Oklahoma State instead.

The second offer to go out recently was to Waco offensive/defensive lineman Andrew Billings, according to a report from HornedFrogBlitz.com, the Scout.com affiliate for TCU. The 6’2″, 295-pound lineman also reports offers from TCU and North Texas, while receiving interest from SMU and Texas Tech.

Billings was named a starter on the offensive line in just his sophomore year, and finished the year as a 1st Team All-District selection – the only sophomore on the offensive side of the ball to receive that honor.

As a junior, Billings again received 1st Team All-District honors, along with earning a spot on the Waco Tribune-Herald Super Centex Football 1st Team and Honorable Mention All-State honors.

With the addition of Armstrong and Billings, UTSA is now up to six known offers for the class of 2013. They join four defensive backs, including the aforementioned Austin Jupe, Steele HS teammates Jordan Sterns and Erik Huhn, as well as Tre Flowers from Judson.
