Roadrunners in the NFL – Week 5

Brian Price

DT – Green Bay Packers – UTSA ’13-’15

Two weeks after making his NFL debut, Brian Price’s Green Bay Packers were back in action this week off a bye, but Price was named inactive ahead of their game against the New York Giants. With teammate Mike Pennell returning from suspension next week, it looks like Price may be headed back to the practice squad.

In case you missed it, Brian Price became the first UTSA alum to be included in Jimmy Fallon’s NFL Superlatives last week. Check out the full clip here.

David Morgan II

TE – Minnesota Vikings – UTSA ’11-’15

David Morgan remained out with a knee injury for the second week in a row, but with the Vikings bye week upcoming he is likely to return in time for their next game. Talking with the media this week, Vikings GM Rick Spielman said that “Morgan carved out a role as kind of a blocking tight end” prior to his injury.

Fellow tight ends Rhett Ellison and MyCole Pruitt have also missed time due to injuries, so the first to get healthy will likely have the upper hand in the competition for TE2 behind Kyle Rudolph.

Teddy Williams

CB/ST – Carolina Panthers – UTSA (Track) ’06-’10

After three weeks on the inactive list, Teddy Williams made the active roster this week following a shakeup of Carolina’s secondary that saw them cut starting cornerback Bene Benwikere.

Williams did get himself on the stat sheet with a third down pass deflection early in the second quarter, but he will be remembered more for the play that followed as he ran into punt returner Ted Ginn, Jr. causing him to drop the ball and give possession right back to Tampa Bay.

With the loss to the Buccaneers, Carolina falls to 1-4 just one season removed from their Super Bowl appearance.

As usual, Williams saw most of his action on special teams snaps, with a team-high 22 (88%), while making 10 appearances at cornerback (14%).
