Roadrunners in the NFL – Week 6

Brian Price

DT – Green Bay Packers – UTSA ’13-’15

After being inactive for last week’s game, Price was released by the Packers on Saturday, but cleared waivers and was re-signed to the practice squad on Monday.

He joins Ashaad Mabry (New Orleans Saints) as the only UTSA alumni on NFL practice squads.

David Morgan II

TE – Minnesota Vikings – UTSA ’11-’15

UTSA’s first ever draft pick had a chance to spend the weekend back in his hometown of Marble Falls, Texas during the Vikings bye week, and it looks like we may see him back on the field sooner than most of us expected.

After missing the previous two games with a knee injury, Morgan is a welcome omission from this week’s injury report. Also back healthy is Morgan’s main competition for playing time, fellow tight end Rhett Ellison, while MyCole Pruitt remains sidelined with a leg injury.

Teddy Williams

CB/ST – Carolina Panthers – UTSA (Track) ’06-’10

Teddy Williams worked his way into the cornerback rotation for Carolina last week and started this week’s game against New Orleans as the team’s #3 corner, behind rookies Daryl Worley and Zack Sanchez. In the second half, Williams would replace Worley, who had to leave the game with a concussion.

Drew Brees and the Saints had their way with the inexperienced secondary on Sunday, going 34-of-49 for 465 yards and four touchdowns. But Williams made UTSA history in the process with his first career interception, and a career-high six tackles.

Williams, once again, saw action in a team-high 30 snaps (81%) on special teams, while putting in a career-high 41 snaps (56%) on defense.

The Panthers will have an extra week to figure out what to do about their secondary issues with a Week 7 bye, but hopefully Teddy Williams has shown enough to cement a spot in the cornerback rotation.
