Coming into the Roadrunners’ inaugural season, wide receiver was believed to be the position with the most depth. We’ll see that depth tested this week, as four of UTSA’s top receivers (and another TE) are suffering through injuries.
There’s also an experienced safety on the injured list that should return soon and could improve a secondary that’s been less than impressive in recent weeks.
LB Drew Douglas (Fr-HS)
Douglas is out for the season with a shoulder injury and will be using his redshirt year to recover. With only two linebackers needed for the 4-2-5 and a decent amount of depth at the position, it’s not a huge loss for UTSA, and he likely would have been redshirted regardless.

He wasn’t expected to be much of a factor in a backfield that has five scholarship players and a couple notable walk-ons, but he’s worth mentioning as he’s had one of the more interesting playing careers of anyone on the team. For the past two seasons he played collegiate football in Canada as a member of the St. Francis Xavier X-Men football team. He lead the X-Men in rushing last season with 289 yards on 77 carries, while playing in all eight of the team’s games.
