According to my sources, junior OL Patrick Hoog suffered a grade 2 ankle sprain in the scrimmage on Saturday. No timetable was given, but the typical recovery time for a grade 2 sprain is anywhere from 4-8 weeks and usually does not require surgery.
As one of our most athletic and most experienced players, especially in a position that was very thin even before any injuries, Hoog will be hard to replace on the depth chart.
Look for Harris and Phillips to remain in the tackle spots (since Hoog had been moved back to guard before the injury) and Inskeep will start at guard along with either of the two transfers, Brady Brown or Mike Sanchez (the lone senior on offense).
True freshman Payton Rion has received praise from the coaching staff recently, but I think the size and experience of the two transfers will win out, especially early in the season.
